Eloise De Geest is a first-year PhD student in the Department of History at Washington University in St. Louis. Her research focuses on early modern England, with a subfocus on plebeian life and culture. Her additional interests are print culture and literature, religion, grief, and memory. Her recent paper, “The Printed Gallows: Cheap Print, Confession, and Performative Justice in Early Modern England,” was published in the Columbia University Journal of History.
