CCHP: Is Cuba Next?

The Trump administration is using a hybrid influence and intervention campaign against the Cuban government.  Maximum Pressure 2.0 seeks to reform Cuba’s political system, liberalize its economy, force it to buy US oil, rid the island of Russian and Chinese intelligence operatives, and to gain access to Cuba’s natural resources including extensive minerals used in computer technology and industrial manufacturing. A cooperative Cuba for a stronger US economy and a competitive edge with China is the goal.  An analysis of this policy in the historical context of US-Cuba relations will help illuminate whether Cuba is next in the Trump administration’s quest to impose a new Monroe Doctrine on the Western Hemisphere.

This lecture is free and open to the public; light refreshments will be provided.
